Lab Testing

Lab Testing is a core part of Svasti’s quality-control pipeline. Every fabric undergoes controlled scientific evaluation using internationally recognised textile standards such as ISO, AATCC, and ASTM. These tests measure a fabric’s chemical stability, colour retention, structural durability, and surface behaviour under repeated stress. This approach is common in performance sportswear, military fabrics, and industrial workwear — and we apply the same engineering logic to everyday clothing for reliable long-term wear.

Through quantifiable metrics (pH balance, tensile strength, colourfast indices, enzyme activity impact, moisture absorption rates, and dimensional stability), we eliminate guesswork and maintain consistent quality across batches.

Tests Included

  • • ISO 105 / AATCC 61 colourfastness testing (wash, perspiration, rubbing)
  • • Tensile strength & tear-resistance calibration (ASTM D5034 / D1424)
  • • Fabric pH-level analysis to confirm skin compatibility
  • • Dimensional stability checks after wash cycles
  • • Moisture absorption & wicking behaviour evaluation
  • • Surface integrity testing (oxidation, enzyme impact, fibre degradation)

Best For

  • • Any cotton or cotton-blend garment
  • • Performance fabrics requiring stability over months of wear
  • • Colour-sensitive garments prone to fading
  • • High-contact clothing: tees, polos, shirts, bottoms
  • • Fabrics used in humid or high-wash-frequency environments

How We Perform the Testing

Svasti follows a closed-loop analytical workflow. Samples are conditioned at controlled humidity and temperature before running tests to maintain scientific accuracy. Colourfastness is measured through wash-cycle simulations using standardised detergent compositions and mechanical agitation profiles.

Tensile strength assessments use calibrated load-extension machines to determine break force and elongation percentage. pH evaluation ensures the fabric remains within dermatologically safe ranges, preventing irritation. Dimensional stability tests are run before and after washing to calculate shrinkage percentages, ensuring garments maintain their intended fit.

What It Means for Your Garments

Lab testing removes uncertainty in fabric behaviour. Rather than depending solely on supplier claims, we verify performance through measurable data. This ensures Svasti garments retain colour, softness, and structure across months or years of regular use. It also helps us identify weak fibres, unstable dyes, or inconsistent finishing processes early — preventing quality drops between batches.

The data we gather from each test determines stitch density, seam reinforcement strategy, fabric sourcing decisions, and whether a material is accepted or rejected for production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is lab testing common in everyday clothing?

Most brands skip proper lab testing to cut cost. Svasti includes it to maintain consistency, prevent fading, and ensure long-term durability.

Do these tests affect comfort?

No — they help confirm skin safety, fabric stability, and softness after treatments like enzyme washing.

Does lab testing make clothes last longer?

Indirectly, yes. It helps identify structural weaknesses early, so we only approve fabrics that maintain performance over repeated wear and wash cycles.
